Perinatal Anxiety is anxiety that happens during pregnancy or after the birth of a baby. Common symptoms include:
-
Constant, overwhelming worry about your health or the baby's health.
-
Feeling on edge, restless, or irritable.
-
Panic attacks with physical symptoms like a racing heart, tightness in your chest, or shortness of breath.
-
Difficulty relaxing and trouble falling or staying asleep.
-
Difficulty concentrating.
-
Feeling exhausted even when you have slept.
-
Anxiety that prevents you from going out with your baby or causes you to constantly check on them.
-
Intrusive or frightening thoughts, which may include thoughts of harming your baby (even if you would never act on them).

Build your anxiety toolkit
$90 per session
This service usually happens for up to 6 hour long sessions and shares some tried and tested practices and exercises that allow you to first manage, then master anxiety.
The aim of this therapy is not necessarily to eliminate anxiety but to use our recognition and knowledge of it to improve the relationship that we have with ourselves which ultimately has a halo effect on all our relationships and enjoyment of life overall.
I use the modalities of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, relaxation, mindfulness, meditation and a solution focused approach for parents to learn and implement themselves.
It looks to address the following:

-
Understanding perinatal anxiety
-
Looking at any behavioural, environmental and cognitive contributors to anxiety
-
Challenging beliefs that are holding anxiety in place
-
Looking at the anxiety toolkit: journaling, relaxation, meditation
-
Establishing a practice that supports balance, calm and peace of mind
I work in person in Wellington, or via Zoom
